YOU’VE GOT THIS!
Safety First

It’s important to know that while archery is a fun activity, it can be a dangerous sport if safety guidelines are not followed. Here is a list of some prudent safety measure you should follow.

  • Follow the rules of your shooting location. Cities, HOAs, and other local entities may have ordinances that affect where you may shoot a bow. Check with them to ensure you conduct your new hobby in a lawful manor.
  • Inspect your equipment, and only use when in good condition.
  • Wear personal protective equipment.
  • Never loose an arrow or bolt in a direction where a human is present. Remember that wind and other factors may change the trajectory of an arrow.
  • Never loose an arrow straight up, as you or others will be in harms way as the arrow returns to earth.
  • Know what is behind your target. It’s important to ensure that if you miss your target, there is no person or property that can be injured or damaged in the arrow’s path.
  • This is not an exhaustive list, use common sense and if you are unsure, ask someone.
Equipment

To get started, you will need a bow, arrows, and a target. There are different types of bows available, including recurve bows, compound bows, and longbows, so it’s important to choose one that fits your skill level and preferences.
